Our farm may look remote, but it’s actually very easy to get here by car (or bike if you’re feeling enthusiastic!).
From the East – travel along the A40 from Brecon towards Llandovery. About a mile after passing through the village of Sennybridge and after the bends under the trees turn right at the ‘triangle’ where it says ‘No Entry for M.O.D. Vehicles’.
From the West – travel along the A40 from Llandovery towards Brecon. About a mile after passing through the village of Trecastle turn left at the ‘triangle’ where it says ‘No Entry for M.O.D. Vehicles’
Then go about 100 yards up the road and take the first turn left (at the lone scots pine tree).
Travel about 1/4 mile along the lane and take the first turn left, down (and then up) a steep track to the farm. There is a sign by the track that says ‘Gilfach Farm’. The track is navigable by all vehicles except articulated lorries. If at all worried please take the track slowly, in first gear.
DO NOT put ‘Gilfach’ into a sat nav! There is a village called Gilfach a long way from here! Do use the postcode LD3 8TY, but note that on Google maps and some sat navs this will take you to our neighbour (Ynys Clydach) further along the lane. Gilfach is down the steep track to the left about 1/4 mile before our neighbour.
There is ample space for our guests parking however please be considerate when parking your vehicle – be careful not to park in front of any gateways or block any track ways, we are a working farm and need constant access for tractors, horses and cattle.
Cottage and Shepherds Hut guests;
There is a car park for you immediately to the left when you enter the yard. If you park your car facing the field more guests will be able to fit in (5 spaces in total – 2 to the left of the farm gate and 3 to the right)
Barn Loft guests;
When entering the yard bring your vehicle to the right and up the slope, at the top is a gravel car park immediately in front of you in front of the stone wall. Two vehicles can comfortably be parked length ways against the stone wall (being careful not to block the track way).
Log Cabin guests;
The same as the Barn Loft but at the top guests can bring their car tight to the right to park directly in front of the log cabin gate along side the black barn (being careful to not block the track way).
Bell Tent guests;
Access to the Bell Tent is via a 50m track leading from the right hand side of the main parking area. Small cars/vans can drive directly to the camp site along this track (follow the signs) or alternatively guests can park in the main car park immediately to the left when you enter the yard and walk to the camp area.
The nearest train stations are Llandovery and Abergavenny. Llandovery is about 12 miles (20 min drive) away and Abergavenny is some 33 miles (50 min drive) away. We do not advise travel from Abergavenny as the taxi from the train station would be very costly. It is possible to cycle from Llandovery however please check with the train provider before you travel if they will allow bicycles on the train.
The nearest bus stop is in Sennybridge but you will have to walk along the side of the A40 to get to us. Please be aware that there is no pavement outside of Sennybridge and the walk would take about 40 minutes. Some buses may stop at the Crai junction on the A40 on request – this is almost opposite the turning at the ‘triangle’ (see getting here by car).
